By the looks of it the ecoboost will be kind of exspesive,Like $7000,
On the 2010 Lincoln MKS It is that much ouch! and only 24mpg in a car?
Might s well bring on the oil burner for that?
At least for the F-150?

Ford Announces Pricing on 2010 Lincoln MKS With EcoBoost

Hopefully that $7k isn't just for the engine. Maybe when you get the ecoboost, it requires several other premium option packages with it, inflating the price.

All this time they have been saying it would be around a $1k premium, which wouldn't be that bad. If it is a $7k option in the trucks, I can tell you right now that thing will be a huge flop. That wouldn't make sense to even offer it as an option at that price, unless it got at least (insert rediculously high number here)mpg ....even then .

yeah, if you read the article is says it's part of a package with upgraded rims, HID lights, etc., that don't come on the base model car. I'm sure it will be a standalone option on the F150.

Yeah. In reading that, I noticed the same thing. The link about the pricing being announced compares the Eco-Boost "top of the line" model to a base model. Big difference in equipment. I would guess the stand alone option of the engine only to be about $1k-$2k.

Badge - EcoBoost

2010 MKS AWD - $43,585
2010 MKS AWD EcoBoost - $48,585

Equipment that is standard with the EcoBoost AWD which is not included with the regular AWD...

I thought the ecoboost was an engine replacement for the modular engines, along with the 5.0 and 6.2. I was expecting it to be the base engine, not an option.

Wow! Look at that torque curve! It peaks at 1500 rpm and stays there until 5,250? As skeptical as I have been of this new engine, I have to admit that is impressive.

As far as the price is concerned, the upgraded wheels and HID headlights could easily account for $2-3K of the upgrade price, not to mention the other required options.

My thoughts exactly...that torque curve is insane!

But Only 24mpg in a car, should be able to get atleast 30+ from that engine in a car the regular 3.5 is rated at 27 in the 2010 Fusion.

The MKS and MKT factory order guide shows HID headlights to be standard equipment on all MKS's and MKT's, even the base model FWD's...

I guess if you're looking from a performance standpoint it's pretty good, but not from a MPG standpoint by any means.

If I wanted MPG, I'd defintely be going for the Fusion based hybrids.

This isn't supposed to be the mileage getter though, right? Keep in mind it still has 355 hp. I'd say that 24 mpg is pretty good for that power level. The milage will be awesome when they do it for a small 4 cylinder that has the same power as the current v6.

Ditto. I'm very concerned about the base engine for the F-150 and if a premium price will be added to the truck that is equipped with this motor.
