vibration culprit

ok heres the deal, about 3months ago i bought 8 new injectors for my truck. after installing them truck ran good for about 3 days and then it developed a shake, which i think trash entered the line in the process of the transplant. i also developed a pinging knock that sounds like its on the pass side, but cant pinpoint exactly which injector it is. ive cracked each injector line while it was running to see if i could pinpoint the leaking injector, which thats what i think it is. after breaking each line several time to reveal that each line makes a dramatic change in the way it runs, but no pinpoint i left it along till today. i started it up and brought it tonormal temp, cause thats where it shakes the most. i checked each line again by cracking them open one at a time to see if i could pinpoint the leaky injector thats causing the knock. here's what ive found, if you crack each line it make a difference inthe way it runs (of coarse). but if you crack each line just a litle to make them just seap the #7 and #6 line causes the engine to smooth out and run normal, while the rest causes rough idle when barely cracked. now if you crack them open more than a seap you get the normal conditions of a dead cylender. do you think that when you crack the lines open to make them just seep on the #7 & #6 cylender that it causes the injector to stop dripping enough to get rid of the shake? whats yalls idea on this?

SOunds like you found it. 7and 6 are opening too soon . When you loosened them, you dropped the pressure just enough to get them to open at the right time, so the spring tension in those two is shot or they are just WAY out of adjustment. Sometimes new ones will go out of calibration after being broken in .You should pull the set and take them back to the place you bought them from and have them recalibrate the things.

Ensure the IP end of the injector lines are in the correct locations on the IP. #7 and #3 can be connected in the wrong place........

I concur, however do check what PLC7.3 suggested first.

He said it ran good for 3 days. It would have run like garbage the whole time if the lines were reversed.

i drove the truck today pulling a 16ft utility trailer, and you can defently tell it runs alot better. my wife even said your truck seems like its not shaking any more it feels smoother as we were going up a bridge. i do believe power is a litle better and i still have one more to change.

What exactly did you do? Did you get the injectors reset or buy some more?

You may wish to look at a possible broken valve spring...... mine had one broken at the bottom, last twist of the spring. They are two part springs and pinging was a result with some intermittent exhaust noise.... like rapping on accelleration.

Visit my photo link I think a pic is there.....

PLC7 , I put 2 new injectors in it and it doesn't shake any more , but when I get the chance I am going to pull the valve covers and take a look . also hopefully try to seal up some known oil leaks i have .
