First off you failed to mention what you have problems with. What is "the thing"?
I use a Viper 5900SST Alarm w/ remote start & 2way pager. It let's me know when the truck's alarm goes off and when the remote start is active. Claims it has a "1 mile" range, but that's only line of sight. Once you go in a building it's hit or miss.
