"Ignition" noise

I have a police scanner in my truck. When im listinig to it I can hear what would be the equivalent of ignition whine or noise in a gas burner. Since we dont have a spark ignition where could the noise be comming from? The alternator? I dont hear it thru the radio just the scanner.

Yup, probably the alternator, I got a noise filter from Radio shack, goes on the positive side of your hot wire to the scanner, cleaned mine right up..

I get a sound that sounds like an ignition noise on my gasser but I know it's not cause it still happens when I shut the truck off while I'm rolling. So I've determined it to be my transmission causing some sort of interference. Probably cause the wire runs right beside it.
