will these rods work?
I am looking to convert my '76 truck 360 to a 390 and was wondering if the C7AE-B rods would work? Also, which crank and pistons would I need? Thanks for the invaluable information

Yep those are the short FE rods you need for a 390-428. The most common 390 cranks found are 2U and 3U and it'll be stamped into the edge of a counterweight. There are other numbers I can post for you later. Pistons all depend on the block bore and budget. Cast, hyper or forged and priced accordingly. Egge, Probe, Keith Black, Speed Pro are some of the common brands. Check around with some of the vendors like Survival for specials. Hit up the classifieds too here and at FE.com on net54. The 390-406-427 all shared the same stroke cranks. Other than some of the early hipo cast iron cranks having grooved mains or the forged steel 427 crankss the cast iron cranks are all about the same. So don't pay more for something advertised as a 427 crank if it's cast. Gotta run......
