who's keeping track ..... and yeah i should post this over on the flatty forum but i can't hear myself think from the crickets and the echo.... any way i have the oe oil filter to add , and i know i have to go to the electrical gauge instead of the mechanical oil pressure , but .. i have this extra a/c condenser core i was gonna have flushed and fittings welded on to allow me to use it as an oil cooler . can the stock oil pump and system deal with this ?? it will be inline after the filter and before the return into the pan / block . besides the cooling would give the benefit of a little extra capacity . just don't know wether it could cause a pressure issue . thanx .
The stock Flatmotor oil system is only a partials flow system (not all the oil circulates thru the filter) and what oil gets to the filter drips back to the pan.
There are some mods that can make the system full flow but I don't know how much the pressure increases.
Flathead oil stays pretty cool even on race engines, mostly because it doesn't circulate up into the head, where the temperatures would be highest. Oil coolers are generally considered a waste of time.
ok doke ross , and dick . ross you saved me time and effort to redneck riggin ' of it , and dick i checked into the full flow and it's kinda pricey and until it actually needs a rebuild i don't wanna mess with it .
