Synch is great but I would be more interested in the new transmission! Does it fumble between gears on rolling stops like the 07/08s do?
what new tranny?
should be the same old 6-speed
or am I missing something here?
I did some comparisons between the 08 and 09 Expy before buying mine, and the only differences I could tell were the interior niceties (Sync, color, leather selection) Nothing drastic that you don't see from year to year.
Ok, I had it about 24 hours and it is easily the nicest vehicle I have owned. As for the tranny I haven't noticed ANY issues , it has shifted smooth as silk.
I waited for the 09 just for the sync and it was well worth it. I paired my iphone and all 800 contacts were transferred over in no time. I have just peeked at the manual but the interface for the sync and navigation is so intuiative that I have jumped right in. It will take me a while to learn all the bells and whistles. We are going on a trip the weeknd for a few days so it will be a good time to learn about it.
Coming out of a 2000 Explorer is certainly part of the excitement of a new Expy, but still it is one well made and thought out vehicle. Ford should be proud.
On another note..it was also the best car buying experience I have had.
Sorry, guys..(or girls), I picked up the Expy on a Thursday and took off for vacation on Saurday morning. We have put 1000 miles on it already and have not had any problems. The only issue has been working with the Nav and radio... trying to mull thru it without reading the manual. The nav unit is awesome...I have used a few and I am really impressed with this one. This is also my first vehicle with Sirius and I'm hooked. A lot to choose from. The Travel link has been great.. we have checked the weather a number of times to watch the rain. The gas station info has been right on and saved us a few sheckles.
First day we left S Florida and hit the lovebugs..not what I wanted to do with a brand new vehicle but as we got to Georgia it started to rain and washed them all off.
We have averaged over 20 MPG ..but it has been on mostly back roads.
Fortunately I ordered the Weathertech mats a couple of weeks ago and got them before we left.. it has been a bit muddy here in Ga.
I will take some pics tommorrow and post them...the Royal red looks really good.
I contemplated the Nav setup on my 2008, but I have my iPhone. The Nav option is ridiculously expensive, and I couldn't justify the expense...maybe later on I'll throw a Avic in there
still waiting on those pics. Dirty is better than nothing...but pretty shined up is better
Use the sheets of fabric softener that go in the dryer to get love-bugs off of your vehicle. Wet down the area to be cleaned and wipe the sheet over it. Let the softener chem work for a couple of minutes. Then rub lightly and the bugs will come off.
