I was in the hardware store the other day and got one of my goofy ideas. Has anyone thought about using insolated stove pipe for the air intake? I know this is way out there in left field but I think it would work. You can get the kind that has joints that pivot and it’s mainly smooth on the inside. Think about it, it keeps the out side pipe much cooler then the internal so why would it not work the same with the outside being hot and the inside being cool.
4" stove pipe with a mix of steel and alm. works very well, been on there for about a year and no issues. i plan to at some point, rivet it together except for the part that goes through the core support, paint it with some silver engine paint and wrap it in the HVAC ducting insulation material.
it looks like any other lid when installed. its stock height.
yes it made a huge difference, i have the pump turned up 1/4 flat or more i cant remember and it has just a slight gray haze when im on it hard so its pretty optimal.
