Elect. Lic. ?

In the state of AZ is an electrical license required? In Washington we have about 10 different cards. Of course, only a couple are able to supersede the others. Might be making a trip down there soon. Mesa area for a visit, then maybe, maybe permanent.

I just asked my dad who has been an electrican here in Az for over 30 years and he said you don't need a lic to get a job here. I didn't think you did but I wanted to ask him before I answered you. Basically anyone who says they know how to hook up a celing fan can get a job down here being a right to work state......

When you come to town be sure to let us know!!

That's true as long as you are working for someone else - but if you are going to be contracting your own work you'll need a license.
Unlicensed Contractor Violations

You're probably looking for a C-11:
Arizona Registrar of Contractors License Classifications

Arizona registrar of contractors has reciprocity agreements with Nevada, California and Utah where they may waive trade examination requirements but you still have to pass the business portion of the exam to be licensed. There's no such agreement with the state of Washington, so you would have to pass both portions of the exam to get your license.
License Reciprocity/ Qualifying Party

I looked into this stuff a while back when we were considering relocating.

Another way to go is the Union, the local one is IBEW 640. Both my dad and grandfather are members. They have made good livings in it and since you have expierence you could basically just go buy your journeymans card.

I was part of Local 46 up here. Until the fan hit. I do have my journeymans card. Just not the contractor card. I do know WA is one of the harder states to get any elect. lic. I am looking at heading down sometime in July for a quick visit. Of course, I'll let you all know.
