Where is everyone buying their box plates from? I have a 1950 F-1 and looking for front and rear. I tried midfifty, but they do not make for the 1950. Terry

Terry,
boxing plates are not rocket science.... the easiest way to get a good fit is to make them... using 1/8" or 3/16" flat plate. You can buy flat bar stock in that thickness and 6" wide.... this will give you little waste and a managable piece to work with... check with local steel supply houses for availability.
Make a cardboard pattern that will just barely slip inside the frame rail. trace that pattern on the steel... a little cutting and grinding and you've got boxing plates !!! You can do the cutting with a O/A torch if your hand is steady... a plasma cutter really does a nice job and a Metabo grinder with a 6" x .040" cutting disc is also an easy way to do it... a 4.5" grinder will dress them to exact fit.
You might even contact a local fab shop or metal working shop and have them cut from your patterns.
Can I assume you'll be doing the welding ??? Set them just inside the rail edge to give a 'lip' for the weld... tack them in place. When you start your welding... do it in small sections and skip around from end to end and side to side...and top to bottom... this will reduce the effect of heat and eliminate warping. A welder in the 130amp and up range will do the job... if you're not going to do the welding... you might just farm the whole job out (cutting and welding) to a local weld shop or rod shop...
I have a front set that I got with my TCI MII IFS and sold. The guy I sold it to already had his frame boxed. I JUST threw them in the trash TODAY but I'll go out and dig them out if you want them and want to pay shipping. The are about 24" long.
Let me know by COB thursday, trash comes EARLY Fri morning.

Gpd! with the price of steel, don't throw any away. Bring all your steel to me at Hot August Nights, or find your local welder/welding shop. Boy do we love steel.......
They are gone...I'm in the process of moving (just bought a new horse ranch in Poway) and am selling my dads house.
With the move happening, all those heavy parts that will never be used are getting tossed, and the plates were in the first bunch to go early friday AM.
