Anybody out there have a set of the Ford OEM headers that they put on the 85 2.8 V6 Aero's??.......I am trying to get around paying $438.00 for new headers for my 4x4 2.8 Ranger project, with a small amount of modification they will fit Rangers just fine.......Anyone who has a set and will part with them, lets talk!.
'85-90 aerostars had minor difference. well, about 2.8... this is Cologne engine popular in the USA and EU. It had RWD and AWD application only (in the USA - bronco, ranger and aero, in the EU - Sierra and Scorpio).
BTW, 've newer seen '85 2.8 aeros. I saw '86 with 2.8, but first aerostars made in end of '85 had 2.3SOHC. It is news for me that first aero had V6
86 should be the first 3.0 V6, 85 2.8 carbed V6 was available, I guess just so Ford could say they had a V6 option. Headers were because of a space interference with stock exhaust manifolds on 2.8 V6 on early Aero's.
)) I suggest this engine may not be used againe... 7 years in someones yard.. rain, snow....
I wanted to use his tranny, but delaited reverce and no OD. I tried to actuate TC directly (works). OD is actuated with valve body (no solenoid).
I was surprized that he did not sell his engine after he swaped, becouse this engine fits scorpio, sierra and transit van. Anyway he lost his chance to get some $$$

Agreed, Pablo......Maybe he can get good scrap price!.
There is no such thing as a 1985 Aerostar. 1986 was the first year.
Three different engines were used in 1986 Aerostars: 2.3L 4 Cylinder / 2.8L V6 / 3.0L V6.
Thanks for clearing that up, Bill!...........They must have introduced them as 86s in mid 85?, I remember them being on the Ford dealer lot here in summer of 85 when I was looking at a brand new 85 Mustang GT.

Ford is famous, or in-famous as the case may be.....for introducing vehicles early.
1965 Mustang shown to the public for the first time on 4/17/1964 at the NY World's Fair. Went on sale 4/23/1964.
There's no such thing as a 1964 1/2 Mustang, that's an enthusiasts term only.
1969 Econoline introduced February 1968. Ford called them 1969's..which means there is no such thing as a 1968 Econoline.
Same thing here: Lincoln Continental Mark III introduced spring 1968, as a 1969 model.
New Maverick introduced summer 1969, as a 1970 model.
New Ranger pick-em-up introduced spring 1982. Ever see a 1982 Ranger?
You won't...because Ford called them 1983's.
According to "The Standard Catalog of Light Duty Ford Trucks 1905-2002" (ISBN: 0-87349-411-3), Aerostars were introduced summer of 1985...as a 1986 model.
The specific Aerostar's first part number prefix is E69Z = 1986.
