alarm 2006 expedition

alarm 2006 expedition
The alarm on my truck will not go off let say they break a door window and reach in to open door. Is this normal. The reason I say is on my 1998 ford it will.

Do you have an actual alarm or are you just talking about the anti-theft system (light on dash)?

no it is the one that comes with the truck light on dash i guess

Well that's not an alarm system, so yes it is working correctly. The factory anti-theft system that you have disables the engine from starting if there is an attempt to start the engine without the correct key inserted into the ignition. Each key has a unique digital chip in it that is read when attempting to start the engine. This systems is also referred to as PATS for Passive Anti Theft System.
