i have had it happen quite a bit to my Expy and Excursion. Never yet on my f250. i sprayed the s**t out of the door latches with wd40. i did each door and hatch. spray it inside the door and all over the latch in the door. i think there is a connector of some type in there that gets gummed up and the wd40 cleans it. just open and shut each door a couple times and you should be good to go...good luck

I have that same problem on my 2003 F 350 crew cab. I have determined that it is the drivers side rear door...when it is opened and closed, the door ajar light stays on and dings at me for a long time and the dome lights will stay on for a little bit.
I can't figure out why or what makes this happen and I would like to get it fixed as well...drives me crazy!!

Any help on this would be appreciated. I will try to spray some WD40 in there as well.

Thanks,
Jeff

This is a common problem on these trucks, it's a little push button sensor deal inside the latch that senses the door is open. They get sticky after a while. Sometimes lubing the door latch works, it didn't for me, and I ended up replacing the sensor. Not hard to do, and the sensor was pretty cheap if I remember correctly.

Sure miss the old push button on the side of the dash my chevy's had. Very simple, and a piece of duct tape allowed you to listen to the radio with the door open without the annoying dinging...

So try to spray a little WD40 or PB Blaster into the latch area and see if that frees it up???
Do you have to take the door panel off to replace the sensor or can you get to it from the latch area???

Thanks

Try lubing it first. If that dont work, then replace it.

Yes, the door panel has to come off to get to it from inside the door.
