I dont know what exactly it is but my tech said the problem was on early build trucks (mines a job 1 06/07 ) humidity can build up somewhere in the air charger what ever that is, when you acclerate hard it the moisture collected is blown through the tubos hense the lack of accleration and forced through the motor hense the white smoke. I live in central florida so you can imagine 80% humudity most of the time with or with out rain. all I know is since it was replaced I haven`t had the lack of accleration I have been posting about, but my problem seems to be intermedant so If it dosent come back then the problem has been solved, if it does I will see what I can do next. But I will say like I did earlier its been raining like hell the last three days with streets flooded and no lack of accleration or white smoke.

Ok now this is starting to make sense. moisture collects in the intercooler but doesn't move with low boost. mash on the throttle get say 30 lbs. boost and bingo water moves into engine. makes sense now. everytime mine has done it was in a downpour or at night so i couldn't see the smoke. but my dealer can't seem to come up with that tsb #.

well mine is a job 3 build so not sure this will effect me. I did have the white smoke during a cold rainy morning one time that totally fogged my culdisac. Only time i've seen that though and it was right at startup. I'm still going to check this with my dealer though. Thanks for the info.
By the way the next thing i will try is what someone had posted earlier. I'm going to wait for a rainy day then remove the airbox cover and drive down the highway for a bit layer her to the floor and see what happens. If theres no hesitation then the problem may be the air intake. As of now it will hesitate anytime i'm on the highway for 15 min or more and its rainy out so this should be a easy test.

Well my dealer did find a tsb on this but I forgot to get the #, it has to do with white smoke on damp or rainy days, no mention of hesitation or stumble. the tsb is for trucks built prior to 10/08 which would include your job3 as it does my job2, should also include 2009 job1 trucks .
will try and get tsb # tomorrow.

I had the same problem and I had my mechanic pull up that TSB and they changed the charged air cooler (intercooler) and the new unit work great. I have not had any white/gray smoke or hesitation while trying to accelerate while it has been raining. I can't add the file to this post, so if you PM me with your email address I will send it to you.

My dealer has a new intercooler ordered for me hopefully this solves the problem.

Well its been almost 2 weeks with rain every day this last week since I had this done and not one problem with hesitation or lack of accleration. I may have been off on the TSB as far as the acutual way its worded, the TSB might not say "hesitation or lack of accleration" when I had described the problem to my advisor thats what he wrote on the repair order, as for the correct TSB # just call your local dealer. Have you ever heard of medicene that was created to cure an illness only to find out it cures alot of other illnesses as well.I belive this could be a good example, my truck has had problems with this since day one and I can definately tell a big differance since I had it done. I hope this cures the problem for everybody else who has this TSB performed.
If anyone finds the correct TSB please let me know. My dealer can't find anything. You know how it is, you have to treat them like a dog and put it right under their nose so they can smell it.
Ditto here, too many TSB codes thrown around here and if the right one can be posted I would also greatly appreciate it. I am used to the sputtering but I would like to make it go away. Not fun trying to maintain speed when the weather is wet with 15K behind me.
Thanks to everyone for nailing this issue down. Now if I can get my A/C to work when it's over 90 outside I'll be happy.
I will call my service advisor Monday to double ckeck and see if the TSB that is on my paper work is correct, if not what is the correct TSB. and exactly what was replaced.
