Hot Start Problem

I just rebuilt the 302 in my carbureted 1985 F150.

-Bored .060 over
-Thumper Performance ported and polished E7 heads
-Comp Cams 30-230-3 camshaft
-Performance Distributors Duraspark II distributor recurved to this engine combo, set at 12 degrees BTDC, 24 degrees at 3000 rpm
Stock Duraspark II ignition (I thought this system is supposed to retard the timing at startup?)
180 degree thermostat
No headers yet, but that is the next thing

Now I have a new rebuilt starter (CarQuest), new battery, battery cables, starter relay, and ground cables. The engine runs GREAT, except that it is hard to start when the engine is hot. The starter turns really slow when it is hot. It fires up fast when cold, every time. Did my compression go up that much?

What could be causing this?

I would disconnect power to the electrical system (remove dist cap, etc.), then spin the engine over- if it still does it whicle compression might be a rare isse, I would be the starter has a issue or is suffering from heat sink (wrap soem insultation around the starter or install/fab up a heat shield.
