So I have an ear infection again. I have been to the doctor and have been taking the antibiotics and ibuprofen for roughly 3 days now. But this stupid infection is still here and it doesn't feel like it's getting any better. Now I'm about to go to the doctor again but I don't have any health insurance so I figured I would ask you guys first. Do any of you guys have any suggestions for getting of of this pain, I'm up to trying anything so lemme know of the family secrets/remedies? If they are secrets I promise i wont tell anyone lol, I'll just pretend I didn't hear them ask.

I've had many, many E.I. in my life and if I recall, it took up to 5 days on the anti-bio at times...... What size ibuprofen did you get... They give me 800mg. Works good! X2 a day. (ie. one every 12 hours)
Doc should have given you ear drops, plus oral antibiotics, and optional pain killer. I too have had many ear infections in my young adult years. Usually in 2 days I was feeling a lot better.
I discovered that my ear infections were from using ear plugs. Either foam or plastic could cause it, and I think it was from tiny abrasions from inserting the plugs. Now I never insert disposables more than once, and avoid them altogether whenever possible, and I clean my plastic ones with alcohol before and after every use. Preferably leaving them wet with the alchohol to lubricate the insertion.
The one time the infection did not respond to treatment, it turned out I actually had a boil in my ear canal.
I know it sounds crazy but i have heard if you pee in your ear it will get rid of it!!!
Disclosure:I PERSONALLY HAVE NEVER TRIED THIS SO I DONT KNOW!!!! But it does work for athletes feet!
Well I have tried this. It DOESN'T WORK, but my grandfather and his buddies did seem to enjoy it. I was an impressionable boy of 12 at the time so don't blame me. I probably need therapy.
Almost matches the times gramps let me ride on the hood of his beetle with a rope lashed around us and thru the windows.
I hear(Yes even now) that they pay big bucks in Hollywood for this.

Ditto the drops and let the antibiotics run thier course by taking them til thier gone.

It all depends on what kind of ear infection you have.
If you have otitis externa (an infection of the canal, sometimes called swimmer's ear) then you should be on some sort of antibiotic ear drops.
If you have otitis media (an infection of the middle ear), then you should be on an oral antibiotic, which it sounds like you are. In this case the drops won't make any difference (unless you have ear tubes) because the infection is hiding behind your tympanic membrane.
Like tseekins said, stick to your antibiotic regimine religiously and be sure to finish them even if you start feeling better. If you don't finish them, the next infection could be even harder to clear. Hopefully you will see some resolution in the next couple of days.
Ibuprofen is a great over the counter pain killer. However, if it is not working for you, it won't hurt to try some Tylenol instead. Just make sure you stay within the dosing on the package, and never take Tylenol with alcohol.....it can cause acute liver failure.
