Another E-Brake Cable Broken!!

I posted the other day that I was on my 3rd E-Brake cable. Well yesterday I took my boat out. When I put it in the water (I was by myself) I shut the truck off, left her in gear and applyed the ebrake and unloaded the boat. I tied the boat to the dock, went back to truck to park it. I got in the truck went to release the ebrake, it wouldn't come up. I looked at the ebrake assembly and notice the dang cable broke AGAIN This will be the 4th cable going into the truck. Whats wrong with my truck? I do have to apply the brake all the way down, and it really don't stop the truck from moving on an incline. Do I need to adjust anything?

My e-brake used to go almost to the floor as well.I replaced my rear brakes a while back and found that the shoes for the e-brake were locked up and not free moving.I got them moving good and have had a firm e-brake ever since. My light was not working all the time so I lubed the switch and it works all the time now.

I guess I should have checked them when I had my wheels off when I replaced my rotors and brakes.

Did you spray them down with penetrating oil?

When my light would not burn all the time and the e-brake was soft,I would catch myself driving with it on sometimes.Ever since I cleaned them and they are freed up I have not had a problem.

Yeah, I try to fish as often as I can. Very little this year with the new born though. Stillhouse Hollow is another great lake for large mouth.
