I Have a 77 F250 with a 351m. Just rebuilt the motor and put on a new 4 bbl carb. The 351m is happier now! but at what speeds should it shift at WOT? What speed should be the max that you could go in first and second? I don't have a tach yet and i don't want to blow the new motor.
It all depends on your setup. I just installed the TCI streetfighter valve body in my c6 and in D it shifts 1-2 at 5500 rpm But my motor has a few non-stock goodies also, a stock motor wouldnt like that very much.
depends on your gear ratio for what speed it will shift also. pretty much i think we need more info to give you a good answer.
#1, BUY a tach!! And yes it depends on your gear ratio, and tranny, since you are shifting, I am guessing it is a 4 speed?! I usually run mine up to about 35-4000, course when I get down to hwy 41 and head to town, it is straight up hill from a stop, so I tend to wind em up pretty good, I have gone over 4000 on accident (was still trying to shuffle coffee from hand to hand) but he didn't like it much...
I have a C6 that has been rebuilt but nothing changed with the gear ratio. The rear end is stock. Everything is stock on the truck except the new carb. What is the red line on the 351m?
