"Shock"ing
I was SERIOUSLY entertaining dropping the money on Ranchos. I started rummaging around about replacing shocks and tips and tricks (been a while since I've done shocks and never on an Explorer) that I might want to be aware of on this specific truck and I came across a bunch of comments about how harsh Rancho shocks are for ride.
My truck is not going to be a serious off-road rig...I hope someday to have one of those, whether it be an F-series, a Ranger, or a Bronco (yeah, I gotta make up my mind
...it'll be a Ford though, no doubt! ), but this one will be the DD. It may have to go onto the occasional job site (I work engineering and construction) or maybe some very light duty off-road service, but not the mud running, blasting over hill and dale type of offroading. What's anyone's experience on shocks with these things? I am now looking at Bilstein seriously, and Edelbrock. My own past experience with Monroe wasn't good, so I'm shying away there. Am I overlooking anyone that I should be considering? When it comes to shocks and stuff, I'm not one to walk into AutoZone and ask for "the best they have"...kinda fussy with stuff that affects ride and stability and I'm not afraid to pay a little more for a quality product.
