Cruise Control Problem
the truck feels like its missing and the speed meter jumps a little
up to 65 if you set it to 70 it the speed meter jumps bad and Cruise Control shuts off anybody had this problem
oh its 96 f250 diesel e4od 280000 miles the truck runs pretty ruff tell warm so maybe that miss is the all the time but it sames to be ok when warm anyways mostly wondering about the Cruise Control

Just a WAG but itd bet the cruise modual is going out, If it doesnt hold a consistant speed and it surges hard enough the speedo will read the surge and the cruise will shut down thinking its offroad or something has happened.

I'm having the same issue again. I'm hoping it isn't the tone ring.
I replaced the VSS in the rear diff and the CPS last time this happened. That seemed to help, but I can't tell if the new (gray) CPS is crap or not. It's only been a year since I swapped them out.
This is going to upset me if I have to replace the CPS every year. I've only had what the dealership calls "normal" shavings on the VSS.
