Dad has a 2006 E-350 Quigley w/ 43,000. Last winter he had a problem that ended up being a bad fuel pump..."sock" got plugged they said, maybe by rust from the "Quigley-ized" tank seam. Not covered by warranty, of course. That extended warranty they bragged up was powertrain only.
Anyhow, folks went on vaca and about halfway through their trip the fuel pump started going bad again; only had 3,000 miles on it. This thing is $415 a pop, plus tax, and whatever else.
Anyone else heard of any particular problems with van fuel pumps going bad prematurely?
Did you replace the actual fuel filter as well as the sock filter? From what I've read on the interweb clogged fuel filters make the pump work hard and are a leading cause of premature failure.
