Remove the gear lever

I have a 1986 ford F150 with the inline 6 and a clark 4 speed/overdrive manual transmission. I need to drop the transmission for a clutch job and I can't remove the stick shift lever. I have a couple of manuals and there is mention on how to do this.

Please, can somebody help me!!!

Remove the gear lever

I don't know if this applies to your 4 speed. A manual for a Clark 280 5 speed says to remove the gear shift lever housing and then cover the case opening.

That is the only think I could think of too. I have not do it yet because I was afraid to open a bigger can of worms.
