I have tried invain to remove my truck's fuel filter but can not get it to come off. I bought the removal clips, tride in vain but the filter would not disconnect from the fuel line. What am I doing wrong? I did depressurize the fuel line as well.
Go to Autozone,or any other auto parts place, and get the FORD fuel filter removal tool.Itll cost about 8 bucks. When you use it,clamp it around the fuel line, and push it in,at the same time pull on the line.It should come "unsnapped" fairly easily. Do the same on the other side. The new filter just requires you to push the line into the filter, and it should lock. My 97 with the 4.2 has 2 additional clips that keep the lines secure. Just snap them back into place.
Typically the "clips" your reeferring to are a bugger to work with. the tool however can be used time, and time again.
Try spraying some PB blaster in the connection. You may have to take it in to a shop to get it off. I fought mine a couple years ago and finally had to have it done at Ford when the truck was there for something else.
