Last night after driving around with some friends and going through some mud and water, when I started my pickup to head home after the seatbelt dinger goes off the KOER self test starts. The RPM jumps to 1500 and the engine light flashes 4 times to indicate an 8 cylinder motor. So I turn it off and start it again. It does it again. Turned it off and started again. Did it again so I just decided to drive it home 2 miles. When I got home I checked to make sure the self test wasn't grounded like when you actually want to run it, and it wasn't. So I disconnected the battery for 5 minutes and tried it again. Same thing happened the self test started running.
Does anyone have any idea why in the world the self test would run automatically? If you turn the ignition key to run the KOEO test will also run. I did let it run through and I got the code 111 which is systems pass right?
Well thats what I thought too, but I couldn't find anything that would be shorting it out. Oh well I parked it for the night and haven't had a problem since, so I'm thinking I must have got some water somewhere and shorted it out and then it dried out overnight.
