So I've been looking at getting this 06 F250 4x4 PSD. It has about 104k on the truck and has around 3900 hours. So I'm asking the 6.0 folks does that seem like a lot of hours for that many miles? The HPOP has been replaced at 96k. Whata yall think?
That truck has averaged 26.6666666666667 mph in it's lifetime. Miles divided by hours.
If it spent most of it's life in heavy city traffic then that's not bad. If not, then it may have been idled a lot. That could cause the actuator ring in the turbo to stick, the variable vanes in the turbo to stick, the EGR valve will get clogged and fail to open or close, etc.
IMO that's a lot of miles for an '06 so I doubt it was in city traffic much. I took delivery of my '05 in April of '05 and it has 58K which is just under 15K annually. Mine has averaged 35.011 and I typically drive it 30 miles daily in city traffic with a 500 mile freeway trip every month, sometimes twice per month.
I had wondered about all of that when I bought my truck. I am no expert in these matters but I would take 104,000 miles divided by 3900 engine hours which gives you an average of 26.66 MPH if it were driven for that entire 3900 hours which isn't really feasible. So I think it would be safe to say with that low average that you could come to the conclusion that this truck has either:
Had alot of in town/city/job sight driving at slow speeds.
or
The previous owner idled the truck alot.
or
A combination of both.
