heres the deal I bought a used 95 f150 man trans tilt steering you can move the steering wheel up and down and side to side I started to pull the steering wheel and found the one of the 5/16 bolt holes for the puller has stiped out threads any ideas how I can pull the wheel do I drill and retap or what thanks
ok drilled and taped the holes and the wheel came right off now the clock spring it says to check the service manual before removing I know they are easy to messup anyone got a link on the removal procedure thanks
1. WARNING: THE ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT NECESSARY FOR SYSTEM DEPLOYMENT IS POWERED DIRECTLY FROM THE BATTERY AND BACKUP POWER SUPPLY. TO AVOID ACCIDENTAL DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY, THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE MUST BE DISCONNECTED FOR ONE MINUTE PRIOR TO SERVICING OR REPLACING ANY SYSTEM COMPONENTS.
Disconnect battery positive cable and wait one minute for backup power supply energy to be depleted.
2. Remove four nut and washer assemblies retaining driver side air bag module to steering wheel (3600).
3. Disconnect the electrical connector on driver side air bag module from connector on air bag sliding contact (14A664).
4. WARNING: AFTER REMOVAL, PLACE AIR BAG MODULE ON BENCH WITH TRIM COVER FACING UP.
Remove driver side air bag module.
Installation
1. Fill out the traceability postcard supplied with the new driver side air bag module and return it to Ford Motor Company. Note the diagnostic trouble code.
2. Connect wiring connector of the driver side air bag module to connector on the air bag sliding contact.
3. Position driver side air bag module to steering wheel and secure with four nut and washer assemblies. Tighten to 4-6 N-m (35-53 lb-in).
4. NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module (PCM) (12A650) relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the strategy.
got the wheel off and changed the bearings in the collum and put in a new ignition cyl while I was there. before I put every thing back I tried to start the truck it would crank but wouldn't start WHAT THE!!!!!!!!!! so I checked all the connections then I seen a plug hanging near the light switch it had been pluged into a blank spot in the inst. cover next to the light switch so I pluged that back in and the truck started so WHAT IS THAT THING AND WHY DOES IT CONTROL MY TRUCK from the front it looks like a blank hole also how do you get the spring compressed and back in for the tilt wheel
