Lift pump issues

I just installed a lift pump yesterday (mechanical). It was a bent arm one, and was installed in the low cam position. After installing it the truck became quieter, and sounded like the timing got retarded. Did the new pump fail? Do new pumps retard timing from old ones. The pump also looks like its leaking, but not from the inlet, outlet, or the vent holes. Thanks.

you could be leaking internal if you blew the diaphram.i would have just done an electric pump

lift pumps do not affect timing, unless there is a huge difference in pressure between your old unit and the new one. If the pump is leaking there is a problem with it, bring it in and get a new one.

you didnt' get the one from vatozone did you?? I put one of there's on my truck and after running for about 45 seconds it died.

The pump is a carter. It was 60 bucks.

hmm, i bought a carter lift pump a while ago that was $45(bent arm kind). It went out a month ago, it was leaking and not pushing enough pressure, and i got it replaced under warranty. It seems like carter has let go of there quality control.
