Need help on wiring!
I have an 87 f150. The truck come to life as a 4.9 v6 EFI, 5 speed 4x4, now the truck is a 390 carb, auto 4x4. The guy who I got the truck from done a poor job on the swap on the truck, theres taped up wires every were and all the wires for the EFI is still there. I want to fix the wiring the right way and get rid of all the wires that I dont need. Ive never really done this before.
1.I have the haynes repair manual but I cant make sence out of the diagram. Is there any better wiring diagram out there?
2.There are to "plugs' under the hood a round one and a long flat one. Do I need any of the wires for the flat one that plug into the CPU?
3. Any one ever use a painless wiring harness? How would it work in my truck? could I see use the radio and inside cab lights?
Any help would be helpful.....thanks

well the old wiring for the efi is useless for the carb its for the wrong engine and none of the wires well connect to the 390 so i would say just pull the old harness out and throw it away or sell it thast about all i can help u out on that

Do you need one for something with a 390 in it from about 1966 or are you looking for a 1987 FI truck wiring diagram?

I may be able to come up with a 1986 or 1988 but have nothing for 1987.

Im goona brake it down into parts..........how do I need to hook up my voltage reg. soleniod,and ignition? Any one know what color wires run to my ignition? Also on the flat long plug on the fire wall is that all for the engine? Is it just engine or is it lights too? If its just engine controlls I can just get rid of it. Any body have the ford mannul of the wiring? thanks

The EEC long plug is for the engine only.
Did the 390 come with ires on the engine for the Ignition system?
What Ignition system are you going to run (points, DS II)?
