Shifter knob
Top is Maple Burl (I had Oak burl as well, which I like a little bit better, but it's almost petrified and like working with stone), the red is Brazilian Paduck. Everything is it's natural color. Unfortunately you can't capture with a picture how it lights up at different angles, Paduck does this especially on the sides, just like a candy paint job, so it will fit nicely in my truck. Paduck is definitely one of my favorite woods, right up there with Purple Heart, unfortunately both are toxic and a pain to work with.

The color is a bit difficult to capture with a photo, its slightly transparent so the camera cuts through it, so you loose some richness. This picture captures it best, however it also captures the fact that I dropped it right after I finished it. Yeah, some bad words where said. I might sand it out, but I was almost finished so I decieded just to wax it and do it later, ha.

Here, this guy's table is an excellent example of what paduck does:

Truck will be candy apple red, interior done in Carmel's and tans... with some slight use of black and red.
Probably the smallest part of a truck, but one you use almost as much as a steering wheel, yet they never seem to get customized.
(i've tried)hmm, i do have a couple blocks of rosewood and bobinka(not sure if thats spelled right) maybe one day i'll attempt it, but till then, all i can do is give props to people like you who have the gift of wood working. great work!!!

Wood is more like working with a newborn; you have to be gentle and do what it wants. Metal on the other hand is more like someone you don't like; you can beat it with a hammer all day and it makes you happy. lol
I use to do a lot of wood work before I became a blacksmith. It really is a lot of fun, just requires a slower hand and the ability not to cry when it splits on you, lol. That and it gets complicated, fun woods like Purple Heart are a lot harder to work with, they're more dense and more like stone, but more annoying they have toxic oils in them... that if you inhale cause your lunges to have a reaction and then possibility kill you, lol. Makes you work for it. Slivers also burn like fire with that stuff... but oh so beautiful!
Yep snow. Not so much where I live, but the truck is in the foothills. When you go out of town winter lasts a month or two longer, and comes a month or two earlier. I've seen snow ont he 4th of July for crying out loud, lol. You really start to see why this town is in it's exact location when you see the weather half a mile out from it in all directions
