s542 vs s547

I just got my 1st 7.3 It's a 1994.5 with the direct injection
Beautiful truck with only 82000 on it
5 sp s542 tranny that has a bad bearing and possibly gear.Had 2 shops look at it. I need a rebuilt. I can get one in INDY for 1100
Can I replace the s542 with the s547 and is there a difference in the 2. Or is there a different tranny I should be looking at.
I did hear the 542 uses a 11" flywheel and the 547 uses a 11 9/16.I know of some guys using the 11" with the 547
also how is PRoyal Purple for tranny fluid
what do you guys think
thanks Jim

As long as the S47 is from a diesel it will work. The S47 is rated for more torque IIRC. A lot of members here use Royal Purple.
