Engine Codes?
Hey everyone. Is it possible for the transmission to cause the check engine light to come on? The local mechanic said i had a code for the torque rotor clutch. Is he really right, or do i need to find another mechanic? I have a 91 F-150 300/6 AOD 200,000 and still rollin. (unless the tranny blows!)

Did he give you the code number? From what I've seen, a transmission code is more likely an indication of a bad electrical connection between the transmission and the computer than a problem in the transmission. See if you can get the actual code number, and maybe we can help you a little more. (If you can't get the mechanic to give you the number or he's forgotten, you can get it yourself using the procedures described in http://www.dalidesign.com/hbook/eectest.html)
