studs and cooler delete question

Ok.. I was told today that the head bolts that come stock in the 6.0 are stretchy by design and that is how they generate their torque.

I was also told that if I install the liberator EGR cooler delete kit that it will result in much higher EGT's and possibly blow the turbo.

Any truth to this?

I am not sure how removing a heat exchanger (egr cooler) would raise the EGT's.

When an EGR cooler delete is performed, the RH up-pipe that feeds the turbo is either replaced or blocked off and no longer flows ino the EGR cooler, only into the turbo as it should

I might believe it would raise it some, but NO WAY enough to blow your turbo...That's a bunch of B***S***.

A good 4" exhaust would remedy any EGT problems you may encounter.

The only functions of the EGR cooler are to cool & recycle unburned gases into your intake for cleaner burning engine and keep you up at night wondering when it will fail and take out other vital components.

Whoever told you, is not well informed.

The original head bolts are a Torque-to-Yield (TTY) design and have nothing to do with torque generation. They hold the heads on the block and that is their sole function, as a fastener. Excessive cylinder pressure can stretch them which will allow the heads to lift and blow out the head gasket. That will of course reduce the torque generated!

That makes no sense at all. The source of this information is blowing smoke out their..... tailpipe, and may be a duraslack owner.

From what I understand there is more heat in the cylinders because the burned gas that the egr system fills the cylinder with dosnt combust and at combustion there is less heat with the burned gas in the cylinder. With out the egr system more fuel is added to more fresh air so you get hotter combustion in the cylinder. For the head bolts strech to make more torque thats Bull shat

Do the delete. Whichever kit you choose, is the best thing you can do.

I would not worry too much about your turbo self destructing as your source told you.

Since I did my delete (I also straight piped my truck) I cannot get my EGT's to even come close to what they used to raise to.

What were your EGT's before the delete and what are they now?

I haven't had it installed yet. I am waiting for a price. My EGT's run normally around 750ish... I have a 4" all the way from turbo back, no cat. volant air intake and running the edge on #1.

Will the liberator cooler delete actually delete the entire EGR system including the sensor or does that stay in the truck?
