I've run 14/36.5r15 on 15x8 and 15x7 wheels. They donut out pretty bad, but they do fit. I currently have 315/75r16 toyos on my stock wheels which are roughly 35"x12.5" and they ride nicely.

You can run it, but it's going to be a balloon on there. You'll have sidewall flex and the tires are going to wear out quick.

Thank you guys what does it mean that they will balloon.. I mainly pavement pound and very light off road ie fields and some dirt roads, as long as they aren't gonna go shooting off or something..btw they are ssr super swampers, is that a good tire for what I am gonna use them for...I have 33s now but the truck has about 10 inches of lift so they look funny..again thank you guys so much for taking the time to respond!

I've never run Swampers, but I've also never known a set to last very long on pavement either. By balloon or donut, it means the sidewall of the tire will be rounded rather then straight. It's not a problem and doesn't seem to shorten tire lift by much if at all, I usually have to replace them because of dry rot rather than lack of tread. My last set of BFGs had some pretty bad cracks in them, but at least 3/16" tread after 40K+ miles.

If your going to run them on the street, I find rotating mud tires with every oil change keeps them more round and less noisy. Mud tires are designed for offroad traction, not to be fuel efficient, comfortable or quiet. The SSRs I thought were a radial tire so they should be worlds better than the old bias ply I ran, but for highway use, I would look to other manufactures.

You are putting a wide tire on a narrow rim so the tire tread block will "bow" more than normal. This will place additional pressure on the center block section of the tread which will increase the friction down the center of the tire as you drive, thereby wearing the tread down at an accelerated rate in that portion of the tire. You will reduce tire life since you are not evenly wearing out the entire contact patch of tread.

Also, because of the angled sidewalls, you will not have the lateral stability and will have excessive sidewall "flex" so your truck feel soft in the corners.

There are many guides out there that provide recommendation on tire/wheel width combinations. Here's a link to the Procomp tire guide:

http://www.procomptires.com/images/p...talog_2008.pdf

It provides recommended wheel widths for each of it's tires too. Any shop you talk to to order tires from should have at least one guide to recommend a safe and effective tire size for your needs, rim size, lift, safety and budget.
