Dash & heater box

on a 74 does the dash need to be removed to install the heater box?

OK here is the whole story. I have my truck at a dif location doing the body work and the dash is the next thing to work on and install. I do not want to screw with the heater box right now. I want to finish the interior cab work (heater, instruments, parking brake etc..) after the dash has been painted and installed.

When I did my heater core I needed to remove the one bolt on the pass side of the dash where it mounts in front of the door, everything else I left alone.
