manual tranny question

hey i'm trying to figure out which would be the easiest, cheapest, and best way to go for my 1960 f100. i have a 76 460 i'm putting into it and i want to match that up to a manual tranny, but i'm not sure what to go with. it's just going to be an in town daily driver so i won't be towing anything but i do want something that will hold up to the 460. i know they came with t18/t19 and np 435 and i would like a 4 speed but really have no use for the "granny low" of these transmissions. is there a way to re-gear the hard parts inside or is there a better tranny for me to use? i'm just not sure of my options since it's been difficult for me to find anything besides the np435 and t18 for the 460. any help is much appreciated!

thanks a mil,
Graham

Zf 5 speed, would be another choice, but that would be more difficult to install. The Np435 or T18/19 would work fine. The trick is to run a higher gear in the rear end, so that the final rpm in 4th would be low enough to cruise at 55 or 65 mph. The 460 has enough torque to do it. Basically you are fooling the truck into thinking it has steeper rear gears and OD.
