My Bronco is leaking oil pretty badly, and at first guess I think it may be the rear main seal. How can I tell for sure were the oil is coming from? Is a 5.0 known for this? I have never nown of another 5.0/302 with this problem, but I am not very experienced.

Have you checked the oil filter to make sure it's not leaking?
Please understand I am not trying to insult you. I let a buddy drive my Bronco for 2 years while I was out of state, and after 6-8 months he said it started leaking oil. Got to the point he was using a quart per day (driving ~100 miles / day). One shop said that the rear seal on the engine AND the front seal on the tranny were both bad and needed replaced. The next shop said it was the oil pan and the rear main. The third, and only honest, shop noticed that the oil filter wasn't on tight anymore. A $20 oil change, a few wipes of a rag, and the problem was fixed.
Here's hoping that your problem is this $imple to fix.
