I have a 2003 F350 with the 6.0, I got it back in Jan of this year. It is a retired state truck out of Ark. The prob is the silly thing hates mornings, it will start great and idle fine but the min I try to drive off it will "burp" and the glow plug light comes on for a sec or two. Most of the time it will still idle after this. There has been acouple times it has died when it does this, after it died it was a pain to get going again. It would start then die so on and so on. The part of all this that drives me crazy is after I get it going it runs like a brand new truck all day. There are no leaks anywhere i can find but my only guess is maybe it is getting air in the fuel line after it sits overnight. Does this sound like the prob ???? Please help this is about to drive me crazy starting every morning like this. Thanks
I would suggest that you take it to AutoZone and see if you have any codes. If you have the P0209 (I think that is right) then you have a bad Injector Control Pressure sensor. If you have a bad sensor and an early build '03, the sensor is located behind the turbo on the HPOP cover. If you have a late build '03, it is located in the passenger side valve cover.
Welcome to FTE thosegrays, more information is needed to solve your problem. A dealer visit could save you money in the long run. Don't throw parts at it, diagnose what is wrong.
We have quite an extensive base of information, you can visit the TECH Folder with hours of reading to get to know your truck.
Thank you for the input, I will see if I can get some codes. I have tried to look at post to see if there was something close to my problem but can't find anything with the glow plug light coming on. The only thing I left out now that I have thought about it is happens more if it is a damp or wet morning. Which made me think a short but I would think a short would last all day not just in the morning. Thanks again
