spindle washer

I swear I used to know this as well as my own name, but.......which side of the spindle washer holding in the front wheel bearings goes to the inside? The flat side or the side with the more rounded edges? I asked the auto mech instructor here, and his answer was an explanation that one side was rounded due to being "punched out" during manufacturing, then he hit a hasty retreat-maybe it's just too archaic a bit of info for him to hold on to.

He is right.. it does not matter, either way works to retain the bearing.
