Possible EBPV Problems
1. The injectors are louder and the engine just runs rough. Number 8 is especially noisy.
I went in for the CPS recall and had the new one put in, big mistake and I think this may have something to do with this symptom.
2. The engine will surge when it is running between 1100 and 1800 rpm. When this happens if I step on the throttle or let off, the surging will stop.
3. I have a constant low pitch hum, very annoying. This started when we had some really cold weather -20+ degrees F. I figured this was normal at that time, because the EBPV was closing to help keep the engine warm. Now recently the hum is there constatly during idle and while driving at all speeds. I can also feel a definate loss of power and really crappy acceleration.
So far I have changed the EBP sensor and tube, and I changed the donut gaskets on my up-pipes because they were leaking. I thought the leaky up-pipes were the problem, but they wern't because the humming noise is still there.
I have been researching some old threads about EBPV problems and both symptoms 2 and 3 have been listed as problems associated with the EBPV. Could this be a EBPV solenoid problem? I am open to any suggestions, because I am mostly inexperienced. Thanks!
All three problems are worse during cooler weather.
