Transfer case question
Hi to all, haven't been here for a while but then my truck has been running GREAT !. It's a 2005 Explorer Sport Trac with 40,000 Kilo on it. So now I decide to do prudent maintenance including changing all fluids, I take it to my local tranny shop who have always been good in the past for all other drive train work on other trucks I own. This time they put in synthetic fluid into the X fer case ( Amsoil synthetic 75W-90 fluid I think ) and this morning when I put the truck into 4W high I get a grinding noise that lasted 2 min. and never happens again once the truck is warm and moving. Any thoughts on using synthetic oil in this application or do I want to change it out back to regular stuff. Thanks to all who reply.

Yeah, if they put in gear lube, synthetic or not, its got to be changed. Mercon V transmission fluid is what it's supposed to have. Do it right now or you'll be rebuilding/replacing the transfercase.
