I'm in the process of ordering an FX4 super cab. Without the benefit of seeing the colors in person, and only relying on internet photos, I'm having trouble choosing between sterling grey metallic and blue flame. Which looks better in person? I know it's a matter of taste but I've seen pictures in which the grey looks good, and others not so good.
I ordered my XLT at the beginning of april and was going to go with the blue flame9gorgeous color to me), but optede for the stone green. So in saying that, if those were my two choices I would go with Blue Flame. That is just my opinion though.
both look good. my dad chose between a sterling gray and blue flame single cab xlt. he picked the gray. i would have picked the blue. both are good colors but i would say go with the blue over the gray, the dealer i bought my truck from has a blue flame fx4 with the 2 tone and it looks good. not to crazy about the 2 tone since mine is one solid color but it still looks good.
I went through the exact same thing. I couldnt decide between blue flame/grey and sterling grey. I decided on blue flame/grey but at the last minute changed to grey because I thought the blue was too loud. I wish I would have gone blue because I think the grey is plain on the FX4 although it looks great on the XLT.
I bought and FX4 a month ago in Dark Blue Pearl - I wouldn't buy another color, but I do have to admit that the dark blue really only looks clean for a second or two after I wash it ... it's spring in the northeast and I can literally watch the pollen pile up on the truck - that's how much the dark color shows dirT.
I would stay away from any gray because it uses LESS coats of paint to acheive the color. Gray and silver trucks have less coats of paint than other colors which could be a problem in the long run

That's the stupidest thing I have ever heard. And not just because I own a Sterling Grey Metallic FX4, but because I know paint VERY well. Maybe you would have been right about 30 years ago. I suggest you visit a modern auto plant. Furthermore, this grey is metallic.
