Colis over shocks

Hello everyone hope everybodys doing alright!
I have a question that I haven't seen on here yet,maybe I haven't looked
in the right place or hard enough, but anyhow... is there anyway to put a
coil over shock onto the 2001 Ex. and do you think that would help with the
front end spring problem I've looked @ both top and bottom bases of the
oem spring and nothing comes to mind except a lift kit and I really don't want that I want it to remain the height that it is or close to it!
Thanks for your time, Tom(earlsnoop)

They make those clamp on coil supports that damage the shock body and offer almost no help in load carrying in such big vehicles.

To put on a proper coil over suspension, you'll have to do some engineering or put on a link kit. With coil overs, there is no leaf to set the position of the axle, instead it has to be done with links such as a 4 link, 3 link or radius arms.

What is your front end spring problem?

Re, is the OP talking about converting a 4x4 leaf spring Excursion to the coil over setup found on 2-wheel drive Excursions?

Regardless of the what it's based off, coil overs need a way to locate the axle. I'm not sure the purpose he means though, but it's a lot of work in any direction.

The axle has to be contained forwards and backward as well as left and right. The spring/shock package handles the up and down. When you build the location system, you need to let it rotate and shift some so it can't be hard mounted which means setting up radii of travel and keeping the pinion angle and caster pretty much set. Radius arms are a simple package, non-parallel 4 link and 3 link wishbone can be done without panhard rods, and a parallel 4 link should have a panhard rod to control the left/right movement.

I am by no means an expert, but I have read a few books on chassis engineering. The work required would need a pretty significant reason to go through it all. Even if you use the 2005 superduty 4wd front end. This also applies to the 2wd with the dead axle.

I understand, I'm just trying to figure out if the OP has a 4x4 leaf spring front suspension or a 2-wheel drive coil spring front suspension.

More info is needed, plus, like you asked, it would be nice to know what front spring problem he's having with his front suspension.
