Headlight Conversions

Ive noticed lately that my headlights arent the brightest on the road. Something to do with having been built in 1968, i think. Anyway, ive heard alot about HID conversions and such, and i was wondering what you guys thought about it. Should i bother with a full conversion, or just install some brighter bulbs? If i should go with the latter, what do you guys recommend?

I think Wally's steering you right. I spliced in a relay and upgraded to Sylvania Performance sealed beam bulbs and feel like my lights are more than adequate now.

on my 67 the headlight wire on the passenger side by the battery were smashed to crap. so i cut them there added relays and new wire and sockets at the lights. throw in some e-code headlights world of difference.

I've done it on my truck. Just runs off relays putting more power to the lamp. New lamps will burn brighter too.

It also should stop the headlight from shutting off and back on .

I havent had any problems with them shutting off and turnning back on (of course now that ive said that.....itll happen.) Did you put both of the relays on the same fender? or one behind each headlight?

I put mine in near the battery tray, I would recommend closer to the firewall on the inner fender more in keeping with the newer vehicles placement. Sometimes my low beams don't want to come on until I vibrate it (thump it) a little.

This looks like a good idea. When I do mine I think I will add a headlight warning buzzer and maybe a timer to automatically shut them off when (not if) I forget to turn them off.
