AOD and TV

I am aware of the importance of the TV linkage and the proper adjustment. I however have a question that I have not heard before. I have a 1981 F150 with a freshly rebuilt 302 and freshly rebuilt AOD. The engine has not been broken in yet and I am wanting to start it this weekend. The transmission rebuilder has rebuilt an AOD that I have in the truck that unfortunately has the automotive linkage in it. Therefore I will not be shifting the transmission into any gear position while I am breaking in the engine. Does the TV linkage have to be in place even though the transmission will not be shifted into any gear? Truck will only be started and engine run to break in camshaft. I have NO need to drive it at all.
Thanks

I would just disconnect the linkage and hold it at the idle position with a zip tie.
It will build pressure if the lever is allowed to come off of idle even if not in gear.
I am not sure if that will hurt anything, mabe someone else can input.
