E40D transmission
I have an E40D automatic with 55,800 miles on it and its been pretty well maintained,but I notice when it gets hot it jerks when you put it in reverse.Is this unusual? It otherwise works fine.

if we new the application ie vehicle it is always easier to get an answer!
it sounds like you could have trouble with the reverse clutch pack. are there any codes or light flashing?

Have you dropped the pan and looked inside? I would suggest to do this and use a Ford trans filter. the after market filters drop down in the pan and cause the filter to suck air causing harsh shifts.
