the sticker says it is a dual fuel vehicle. Nothing on or in the vehicle that I can see indicates that it is. A couple of questions here.
2006 with 5.4 38k miles on it.
1. Is the sticker generator accurate?
2. Has anyone tried running the E85? What were the results. Understand it is more corrosive, Was thinking I might run a tank one time when I am traveling to see what kind of mileage I might get mostly out of curiosity.
Not sure whats at the end of that link...all I got was a blank page. However, if its an '06 it's more than likely a Flex Fuel engine. I believe most 5.4 were from '06 on. E85 gives about 30% less fuel economy. My rig runs a little rough at idle on it but seems to have a bit more pep. But, I rarely run it because I only get about 9.5MPG on it.
It's perfectly safe, the flex fuel engine fuel systems are designed with special materials that won't corrode due to the high ethanol content.
Ok, I got that page to work...that is fricken COOL! The link above is incomplete...cut and past it into the address bar but substitute your vin after the equal sign: http://services.forddirect.fordvehic...r.pdf?vin=YOUR VIN HERE
can you get a screenshot of your build sheet for us
if your truck is a flex fuel, then go ahead and run the E-85.
I personally will never touch that crap again. It's cheaper at the pump, but the resultant horrific MPG's negate the price saving....if you do the math, you end up paying more long term for the E-85 vs. just buying the normal 87 octane
btw, if you run E-85, you also have to use the Extreme Use care schedule. Oil changes at 3,000 miles and other goodies
