I'm in Chicago NW Subs for a visit. Glenview, Des Plaines, Wheeling area to be exact. I have my truck and would like to flush the coolant system. Where can I pick up CAT coolant? Also is there a local shop that would carry De Pricol gauges? Thanks.
PS. It was my first long trip with her. ARE wedge canopy on the back with about 3k lbs of household stuff in it. No problems. Trans temp stayed between 130 and 180. 70 mph on the cruise and 18.4 mpg for the 1050 miles.
Any CAT dealer should carry the "Extended Coolant" look in the phone book or goggle for a dealer in your area.
I have not heard of that brand of gauges (De Pricol) but once again, Google them and I'm sure that you will find them. Sorry that I can't be of more help. Perhaps someone else will chime in with better answers.
Thanks Rog.
I used your link to find the local CAT dealer and tomorrow I'll call to make sure they have what I need.
I bought my DiPricol Optix trans temp gauge from ITP but was hoping to find something close.
Do you think I can use Prestone flush to clean the system?
Thanks again.
Just use a good product. If you want to do the the flush properly don't forget to pull the block plugs and if your thinking about changing the thermostat to a 203* now would be a great time to do so. You can temporarily put the stat housing back on so you can flush without the stat.
