I would like to move the front bumper back closer to the body and I would like to cut the frame rails off before I replace the boby but I don't know how much I can trim off, Could someone tell me how much of the rail is exposed between the back edge of the front bumper and the valance which is just behind the bumper ? Thanks
dont know if this will help, but i'll go thru sum diagrams i have to see if i can find you sum measurements. i cut my frame horns off, so i have nothing to messure lol.
If I remember crrectly ,I removed 2 1/2"..Here are a couple of tips/ideas/thoughts..
You may have to ' trim ' the upper bumper mount bracket to clear the openings in the gravel pan (try a mock-up fit..seems to me I ended up 'recessing' the brkt into the opening), also , if possiable, do any necessary drilling /welding /fabbing..before cutting the end of the rails off..again ,do a mock-up and keep a tape measure handy.I remember making a pattern of the holes in the framerail..top and bottom, and then just moving everything back the desired amount...I'm sure I have the details in my notes ...but it's buried like everything else, and like everybody else's projects, was done a long-time-ago..LoL! Good Luck! You will like the look of this mod!! ( consider the matching rear'snugger' brackets from Mid50)
I have a 55' F250 that I am trying to rebuild the front of the frame. I bought it from a salvage yard with it torched off in front of the body valence, probably just to take the bumper. I'm looking for a set of dimensions that I can go by to rebuilt them. Does anyone know where to find them? Thanks in advance.
