I have been reading about Illinois sending tickets to MN residents for toll violations. Only problem is that a lot of these tickets were for vehicles that had been sold. Illinois Attorney General even admitted that their databases were defective. (This after they had sicced collection agencies on some folks )
So today, I got a ticket for my brother's car. Only problem is that he died a year ago and the car was sold. Curiously enough, they found my address ( I am doing his estate), but they didn't know that he is dead.
So now I have to have an annoying phone call, and who knows what else. I'm not much inclined to dig up proof of the sale -- they can check with MN. What they have is a picture of a license plate that expired in 2007!
This seems to really stretch the point of innocent until proven guity.
They do the same thing to those of us who have the ipass toll system, sometimes it isnt always triggered.Which is screwed up because they have our plate numbers on file that the could cross reference.....
They dont give a crap if the cars sold, person passed away, ect, ect, ect....... You shouldn't have to pay, it wasn't your car. I would call up and tell them to go fly a kite! Why did they have your brothers plates on the car if you sold it? But they are nasty about their precious toll money. Well Im just happy that the "Rod R. Blagohevich" signs are off the tollways!
