Hey everyone,
My dad and i went lookin for a lightning today and the dealership we called said they had 2 2001's one white and one red but they didnt have either one of them. They did have a Black 2000. It felt awesome to say the least. What are the exact changes between the 2000 and 2001. They were tryin to sell it to us at 27,500 is this a good deal or could we do better being that another dealership is supposed to get a 2002 sometime this week

The 2001 Lightning has 20 more horsepower(380) and 10 lb-ft more torque(450). The tail lights and grille are a little different. Most Performance specifications that I have read show the 2000 and 2001 to be about equal in quarter mile times and speed.
I have a 2001, spent $32,000 on it in May. $27,000 sounds real good for a 2000 if new. Hard to believe a new one would set on the parking lot for almost two years, so I assume you are talking used. Then you have to get into how many miles are on it, how hard it was probably driven etc. (Keep in mind the tires on these things cost about $250 each, so if it was driven like I drive mine, they will probably only last another year or so).
The dealer is trying to sell it as "new" but they let a race team that the sponsor use it for a while or something and it has scratches in the bed from " tool boxes" but we arent gonna get that one just because the dealer doesnt know anything about it like trying to tell me they got the 20 hp and 10lbft of torque from a computer chip not the intake and new nothing of the gearing changes. The other dealership is supposed to call us when they get their lighning in so for the time being im bouncing off the walls waiting to see a 2002. Well instead of bouncing off the walls im out getting 40ft of air on my 300ex
